JOY
Joy is gladness rooted in God and His saving work, not a demand to feel happy in every circumstance.
John 15:9–11; Philippians 4:4–7
Jesus speaks of joy while calling His disciples to remain in His love. Paul writes about rejoicing from hardship, alongside prayer and dependence on God.
UPWARD
Thank Christ for one aspect of His character. Bring grief honestly; joy does not require denying sorrow.
OUTWARD
Celebrate someone else’s good news without making the moment about yourself.
DOWNWARD
Enjoy creation gratefully and resist consuming more simply to escape discomfort.
PRACTICE TODAY
Name one gift from God and share encouragement with someone facing a difficult day.
REFLECT
Where am I confusing joy with ease? Can I hold gratitude and grief together before God?
