LOVE
Love seeks another person’s good in response to God’s love, rather than treating people as a means to an end.
John 13:34–35; 1 John 4:7–12
Jesus gives His disciples the pattern of His own self-giving love. John locates our love in God’s prior love, not in our ability to earn His acceptance.
UPWARD
Receive Christ’s love before attempting to prove your worth. Bring one selfish motive to Him in prayer.
OUTWARD
Speak truth without contempt. In a strained relationship, listen before preparing your defense.
DOWNWARD
Use your time, money, and influence for the good of people who cannot repay you.
PRACTICE TODAY
Ask someone what support would actually help, then do one specific thing without seeking credit.
REFLECT
Whose good have I overlooked? How might receiving Christ’s love change the way I speak today?
